PARISH NEWS

Christmas Bazaar Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Bazaar. We had a good turnout and there was a nice atmosphere during the afternoon. We are grateful to all who gave prizes, run stalls, baked cakes etc. The total to date is £435.45 for which we are most grateful.
Harvest 2016

Harvest Celebrations are now well over but we enjoyed a very well- attended Harvest Supper in the Village Hall. This is a joint venture with our friends of the Village Hall Committee.  The supper was delicious - as always - and we are most grateful to everyone who so generously donated food and gave of their time and talents to provide the meal and/or gave raffle prizes.  The meal was followed by two quizzes which got us scratching our heads and having fun!  The total raised from the event amounted to £669.10 which was shared between the Village Hall and the Church.

The Harvest Festival was led by the Rector and the Castelton Brass Band played the hymns for us. The church as beautifully decorated and there was a good attendance.

Bike Ride
We are grateful to all who cycled, walked, signed, sponsored and arranged this annual event. The weather wasn't so great but the rain was quite limited - despite the forecast! We do not know the total at the moment but will publish it when we do.
Sharron has left us!
A large number form the Benefice attended the institution of. Sharron on the 7th September. She is now the Vicar of Brandon with Wangford. It will seem strange not to see her at services again but we all wish her well in her new parish.
Service for the Hospice
It was a great pleasure to welcome the Rev. Sister Sharon Connell - who is Chaplain at St. Nicholas Bury St. Edmunds - to our special service on Sunday 26th July. We gained a valuable insight into the care and devotion of all who work there. We will be able to send a donation of about £275 to the Hospice towards their work in the near future.
Flower Festival
This year's displays were really amazing and our thanks go to all who so patiently produced them. The theme of 'Charities' led to a wide variety of ideas and the church looked absolutely beautiful. Thanks are due to all who helped in any way and especially the Castleton Brass Band who played again for our Songs of Praise service at the close of the event. The amount raised to date is £832.94 for which we are most grateful!

There is therefore no need to fill in an envelope when giving in the Sunday collection unless your donation is over £20.
